Unusual semi with stables, Lancashire

A semi for you today. I know, I know - I don't usually 'do' semis but we can't always live in the middle of a field, sometimes neighbours are good for us.
This weird and wonderful five-bed semi in Standish, near Wigan, was sent to me by reader Alison. She'd looked at the property when it was priced £55k higher!

It's not entirely what I'd call a wreck, but we viewed in over 12 months ago at £265k, and it was in much better condition, and was lived in. It's been on the market for years, with at least 3 agents, and once up for auction.  Me suspects there are problems with surveys that are making sales fall through!  It has three 'stables' which the agent wouldn't even let us look in because they were so dilapidated.
I'd absolutely love to buy it... but hubby says No!  I'm just picturing converting one of the attic rooms to a beautiful bathroom, with roll-top bath below the round window.
...I'd love to know more of the history... I remember the owners telling us that the original house has been divided into two, and the man who owns the other has featured of one of the DIY SOS-type programmes!
Here are those fab round attic windows - tho' the quilt on the floor worries me...

Downstairs are good-sized lounge, dining room, and kitchen. Upstairs are five bedrooms and a bathroom.
Outside is the drive, garden, and the outbuildings Alison mentioned: stabling, office, and tack room, plus "land" but the agent's details don't say how much or where. The Google view may help?
Alison had done her own bit of detective work and found this link from a 2011 listing for the house. Interesting to see how it's changed (and what a difference sunshine makes to a photo!):

On the market through 4sale2U at £210k. Details here and on Zoopla here.
