Detached houses Somerset and Suffolk

Couple of easier-on-the-eye renovations for you today. More updating than rebuilding, and heading south rather than my usual all points North.
The three-bed detached house above and below is at Mudgley, in rural Somerset and close to Wells.
Fair View is a handsome house with a good-size garden and fab views across to Glastonbury Tor.

Light, bright rooms with lots of original features (although the bathroom is downstairs) and plenty of space outside to extend.

The lack of wreck-iness is reflected in the price - on the market through Killens at £360k. Details and more pictures here and here.
In a similar vein is this detached cottage at Owls Green, just outside Dennington village, in Suffolk.

Three bedrooms (and an upstairs bathroom - yay!), kitchen/diner and sitting room.

As with Fair View house, the White House is reasonable driving distance from mainline stations to London (depending on your commuting parameters that is).
While not quite so pretty on the inside, the White House comes with more land - half an acre of gardens, plus this cartlodge:

The timber frame cartlodge comes with an overage (claw back) clause which says that if you turn it into a second property at any time in the next 30 years, you pay some of the consequent uplift/profit to White House's current owners.
On the market through Clark & Simpson at £350k. Details and more pictures here and here.

Cute Cumbrian smallholding for sale

Last week I picked some proper renovation porn to show you - a castle, a manor house and an island. This week's choice is a bit more down-to-earth, but equally delectable.
Wellknowe Rigg is in rural Cumbria, about nine miles from Carlisle. Don't be put off by the small and cutesy look of the cottage however, this is a smallholding - that cottage, a stone outbuilding, and 20 acres of land - including a bit of wood and a share of a river. We're talking The Good Life maxed!

The cottage needs work, clearly, but there's plenty of space to extend and the outbuilding - a former forge - looks useful.

The detached cottage is all on one level, with a tiny kitchen, pantry, store, living room, sitting room, two bedrooms and bathroom.

The forge is split into two rooms. Outside is a courtyard area between the two buildings, a large lawned garden, 15 acres of grazing land with water, around five acres of woodland leading down to the River Lyne, and part of the river, including fishing rights and a "dipping pool" (wild swimmers, queue here).

It's fabulous plot all-in-all, and in a very pretty area of England. On the market through C&D Rural with a guide price of £270k. More here and PDF here.
