Former farms for sale, Darlington and Wales

Image
My last few posts haven't really been about what we might call "wrecks". Indeed, some of the properties I've picked out have needed little more that titivating. Well, perhaps a little more than titivating... Anyhow, today I've got two proper wrecks to show you. First a property sent by one of my resourceful readers, Wendy. Above and below is a derelict former farm and medieval ruin at Coatham Mundeville, near Darlington - Wendy's "wreckiest wreck!" Coatham Grange is little more than some ancient walls and optimistic drawings (planning permission for a five-bed home with large stable block) but it comes with four acres and a £270k price tag that's dropped by £80k since it first it went on the market almost a year ago. More info via agents Your Move here , more pix on Zoopla here . If four acres doesn't do it for you - how about 27? Clyngwern Farm, below, about nine miles from Carmarthen, is a semi-derelict four-bed farmhouse (the ...

Two unfinished grand designs

The last six months have been all about The Extension. Planning it, permitting it, building it and...one day perhaps... finishing it.  It was finished enough for Christmas (see below...ahem) and has already made a massive difference to the tiny cottage we've been renovating. Finally we have indoor space to entertain in (there was the Christmas dinner shared under a snow-heavy gazebo; the several parties that required the building of outdoor dancefloors...). We have just enough cash left to plaster the plasterboard, but I've accepted that the floor will stay as OSB and I've stopped noticing the unrendered blockwork. Anyhow, all of that is small potatoes compared to the properties I've picked for you today. Neither are wrecks - both are big, grand unfinished projects put on the market after the wherewithal to complete the job ran out. Above is Burnfoot Lodge, at the entrance to Springkell Estate at Eaglesfield, in Dumfries. A handsome, detached house with a small g...

A seaview, a Gothic cutie, and a life-changer

Ready to hit the renovation ground running in 2015? Ok then...ready, set, go!! You've got until Friday to get in an offer on this Cornish four-bed detached with fab views. It sits above the large sea village of Par , with its lovely beach, a couple of miles from the Eden Project  The house is a bit of an odd shape - looks like it's been extended and then extended again and may have build issues because of that. However, at offers over £190k, there's a lot of space as well as that view. Best offers by noon on Friday January 9th to agents Lilicrap and Chilcott here . More pics on Zoopla here . No deadline on this Norfolk Gothic cutie (tho' it won't stay on the market forever): The 19th century, detached house is in the market town of Hingham and is Grade II-listed. It has two bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen and two reception rooms. Plus a large garden and brick-built workshop and garage. Also the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel Tower in the dining r...
