Oftentimes, small is beautiful. And the three wee properties I've picked for you today will hopefully convince you of that.
If only because at under £135k each, the price of these 'wrecks' is particularly beautiful.
I'll start here, furthest away from most of us, with a two bedroom, single-storey cottage on the Isle of Skye. In a hamlet of around half a dozen similarly small detached cottages, it sits within half an acre of rough land (sort of - deeds are fuzzy and need sorting) looking out towards Loch Dunvegan.
Two bedrooms, good-size lounge, kitchen and small shower room. You have neighbours that look to have rebuilt or extended, which may be a possibility here too?
Beyond that, cute but tired and needing updating but quite stunning views without being ultra-remote, plus close enough to the road for works and deliveries.

Dropping down the map to the popular Scottish borders (so popular, I'll be there myself next week) is this two-bedroom semi in a small group of former farm cottages.
Around five miles from the market town of Kelso, it sits opposite the estate of Hassington West Mains (at least, I think it's a estate - I couldn't find anything other than a link to a possibly retired director of an estate management service). Neighbouring cottages have all been sold off, let out or rebuilt but the area remains rural and comparatively remote. Views are gorgeous, even in the Borders drizzle.
Lounge, kitchen, bathroom and hall downstairs, two good-size bedrooms upstairs. A drive to the front, big enough for two or more vehicles, and a fenced garden at the back.

My last pick is a mid-terrace in Wales. Rather less space and rurality that the Scottish properties but that's made up for by the rather nice looking pub-restaurant just across the road and its location in the Brecon Beacons village of Upper Brynanman.
