Couple of easier-on-the-eye renovations for you today. More updating than rebuilding, and heading south rather than my usual all points North. The three-bed detached house above and below is at Mudgley, in rural Somerset and close to Wells. Fair View is a handsome house with a good-size garden and fab views across to Glastonbury Tor. Light, bright rooms with lots of original features (although the bathroom is downstairs) and plenty of space outside to extend. Last week I picked some proper renovation porn to show you - a castle, a manor house and an island. This week's choice is a bit more down-to-earth, but equally delectable. Wellknowe Rigg is in rural Cumbria, about nine miles from Carlisle. Don't be put off by the small and cutesy look of the cottage however, this is a smallholding - that cottage, a stone outbuilding, and 20 acres of land - including a bit of wood and a share of a river. We're talking The Good Life maxed! The cottage needs work, clearly, but there's plenty of space to extend and the outbuilding - a former forge - looks useful.
